Hamed Al‑Raweshidy is a Professor of Communications Engineering at Brunel University London (UK) and serves as the Director of the Wireless Networks and Communications Centre (WNCC) and Director of Postgraduate Studies (Electronic & Electrical Engineering). He holds a B.Eng and M.Sc. from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq (1977, 1980), a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Glasgow (1987), and a Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (1991).
Professor Al-Raweshidy has extensive industrial and academic experience, having worked with research centres and companies across Iraq, USA, Germany, and the UK, including British Telecom, Oxford University, and Manchester Metropolitan University. He has published over 370 papers in international journals and conferences and is editor of the first book on Radio over Fibre Technologies for Mobile Networks. He is also a guest editor and board member for several international journals.
His research spans next-generation wireless systems, including beyond 5G/6G technologies, IoT with AI and quantum integration, radio over fibre, cyber-security, and advanced wireless architectures. He has been involved as principal investigator on major EPSRC and European research projects and collaborates as a consultant with global telecommunications companies such as Vodafone, Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, and others.
